About Ian

If you think conductors are stuffy and unapproachable, Ian Passmore will change your mind. Newly appointed Music Director of the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and a Music Director candidate with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, he's equally at home leading Rachmaninoff in the concert hall and headlining the Undertale and World of Warcraft World Tours in arenas across the country. Hailed as "a rising young conductor" by Fanfare magazine and trained as the final student of legendary pedagogue David Effron, Ian is passionate about one thing above all else: making classical music feel alive.
